Powerful Discourse: Gender-Based Violence and Counter-Discourses in South Africa

چکیده

The issue of gender-based violence (GBV) against women in South Africa is prevalent mainstream and online social media. Women girls are targeted what seemingly becoming a prolonged cycle GBV the country. Human right activists, organisations, political leaders condemn this through various platforms, including Civil society have organised mobilised marches protests, tirelessly speaking out focus study to explore analyse how counter-discourse has been used country reject commonly held assumptions about GBV. Through purposive sampling selected posts/placards during protests collected from sources, article examines language being combat expose language, when mindfully purposefully, could be crucial tool curbing GBV, femicide, abuse, assault, rape, violence, amongst other crimes.
